The Austin 7 was probably one of the most important cars produced in the 20s and 30s. Built between 1923 and 1939, the effect that this economy car had on the UK public, was likened to that of the Model T Ford in the USA.
The Austin 7 was an economical family car that was built with may different body styles. The 2 door being available in Tourer, Saloon, Cabriolet and Coupe, and even as a 3 door van. There was something for everyone with this car.
With the early cars being produced with a 696cc engine, this was replaced with a slightly larger 747cc 4 cylinder engine.
The Austin 7 Chassis was used as a platform for many coachbuilders, including the Swallow Sidecar Company, which was co owned by William Lyons latterly of Jaguar Cars fame.
